Aquaboxes

We buy boxes containing water purifying kits, which can treat enough water for 4 people for 4 months. The boxes are filled with clothing and tools and sent to disaster areas.

Book Aid International

Books are collected, packaged and taken to Book Aid Charity in London from whence they are sorted and sent to third-world countries.

Shoe boxes

Filling shoe boxes with gifts for those in need.

World Doctor Bank

Mock Interviews:

These are carried out at local secondary schools. The experience, guidance and feedback gives the young people an opportunity to make the most of their attributes at a career interview.

Christmas Lunches:

We arrange for elderly people, who would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone, to visit a local Nursing or Residential Home for a meal and companionship.

Spearheaded Cystic Fibrosis Local Nurse Appeal

We raised over £80,000: enough to pay for 2 part-time nurses for 3 years prior to funding being taken over by the Health Authority.

These raise funds for a variety of Rotary Projects.

Vocational Awards

Given annually to one or more people to recognise their work on behalf of the local community.

Tea Dances

Rotary has been involved in running tea Dances for the Elderly.

Burgess Hill Musical Festival Evening

Rotary has run this popular event at the Martlets Hall for several years.

Youth Opportunities:

Art and Poetry Competition

These are annual competitions for local junior and primary schools to encourage and promote artistic and poetry skills.

Local Schools Public Speaking Competition

The winners of the local heats eventually move on to meet other teams throughout Southern England.

Pantomime and Adventure Park Visits

We arrange for local disadvantaged children to visit a local Pantomime and Chessington World of Adventure.
